Madi is home from her mission! Here are highlights of 12-country-trip:

In Zurich after all-night flight from Florida, waiting for a train to Slovenia.  We were exhausted but enjoyed walking around the city a bit.

After taking the train to Slovenia, we got a rental car and drove to Split, Croatia (because the Swiss companies wouldn't let us drive their rental cars to Albania, which I figured out AFTER buying our plane tickets- oops.)  We had a nice evening here, ate some yummy Croatian food and and saw Diocletian's palace area and walked along the cost in the sunset.

The next day we drove as fast as we could to try to get to a missionary farewell dinner in Tirana, Albania.  We had to go through Bosnia and Montenegro, over some sketchy roads and construction, so we were a bit late, but we made it!

This is Madi's mission president and wife, the Wiedmans.  We were abe to listen to their farewell meeting with departing missionaries, which was neat.

For the next couple days, Madison introduced us to many of her friends in several cities in Albania and Kosovo.  It was great to see how much they loved her.

This was some of the worse stretch of road between the countries ...

Madi's friends were so generous, and loved to feed us delicious foods.
another very hospitable family we visited

A stop in a Macedonian city (Skopje) after leaving Kosovo.  Alexander the Great statue in the back.

After driving through Serbia we waited for hours for an overnight train back to Zurich.  It was rainy, but we were lucky and there was a market, a traditional band playing, and a neat castle to tour.  This is Madi by the "Dragon Bridge."

Madi by the Ljubljana Castle.  She was released by Skype by her stake Pres so she could wear pants and dance at Isaac's wedding.

After the overnight train, back in Zurich.  With all of our luggage, we only had 2 beds between the three of us- part of the adventure.

Sunday picnic near Mulhouse, France.

interesting walk around Colmar France

Madi scaling a city wall in the little French town where we stayed (Neuf-Brisach) the night before getting to Germany.

Picturesque canola fields in Germany

Isaac's wedding party- see next entry for more on that

At Bern Temple for Isaac and Sandra's sealing two days later.  It was neat to go back here, because 10 years ago we came with the kids to do baptisms here when we lived in Germany, and stayed in the same little temple dorms.

Finally back home in Florida.  Our plane had mechanical problems in New York, so we missed the connection in Charlotte, but we made it safely, and are so glad to have her back for the summer before she goes back to BYU-I this fall.

FL Riley events

Alicia and I are going to meet Madi in Albania and drive to Isaac and Sandra's wedding in Switzerland!  Sandra's family is from a town East of Stuttgart, Germany.

Rachel is excited to finish up high school, seminary, and her associate's degree from NWFSC.

Josh relaunching his boat, after the latest in a long series of modifications (patching leaks)- this one with new oarlocks.  He built the boat and a little trailer for it himself.
Josh's Mother's Day card for Shirley.  You should click and enlarge this to see what everyone is holding.  I thought it was hilarious- except for my hairline.  No one get offended- they're caricatures, after all .

Nick's Crew Camping- and Ezra the Speed Demon!

Here are some fun pictures of Nick's family on a camping trip.  The video clip of Ezra on the ATV is hilarious, but I couldn't get that file type to post here.

From Cory's Family, and one of Madi on Christmas.

Christmas 2015 - Florida Rileys

Making some gnocchis 24 Dec 15

And eating them!

One of Josh's presents was a 50 ft rope we put to immediate use climbing up and between some big trees with the neighborhood kids

It was so muggy on Christmas Day we went to the beach and enjoyed the breeze.  Here's Josh with his kite and Alicia ...

And Eliza and Rachel

Eliza and Rachel- brave enough for the cold water.

Big news from Isaac and Sandra, who got engaged 24 Dec in Germany.  Sandra's family is from Germany, and they are staying there over the Christmas break.  We got to meet her family a bit over Skype.  They are planning a May wedding in Bern!

Highlight of Christmas Day was talking to Madison! She looks and sounds great, and sends us details each week of all the people she's meeting and neat experiences she's creating.  It was hard to limit to 40 minutes, but great to see her.  She finishes in May, so Alicia and I are hoping to meet up with her and go to Isaac's wedding together.

Here are a few (relatively) recent pics I've been meaning to share, to update you with what the Florida Rileys have been up to.

Josh was awarded his Life rank- Yea!
Eliza's mission in NL is almost over!  Alicia is going to meet her in Netherlands and enjoy seeing her mission areas.
Rachel making some cash (and getting her weekly harassment from her dad) at Smoothie King.  She still hasn't got me a family or military discount, or named all the flavors for me.

A sand message "We love our sister missionaries."Family dinner before my deployment.  Had to try someone elses's gnocchis- not bad.

Isaac's still enjoying BYU, teaching at MTC, learning multiple languages.  Here with his frauline friend Sandra, from Stuttgart.  And me with my sweetie in Destin.

Madi is still doing great work in Albania. She send us lots of great pictures of her friends and the Adriatic coastline.

Josh's Homecoming group- lots of nice kids from the ward

Rachel's Homecoming group- another bunch of great kids.

Love to you all!
